About

Conceptual artist Kevin Abosch has created ŠLJIVA for the nation of Serbia. The work is comprised of a series of physical photographic works and 10 million virtual works which exist as ERC-20 tokens on the Ethereum blockchain (symbol: SLJ). The former serves as a proxy for the experience of the Serbian populace while the latter is a secondary proxy through which the artist reflects on the Serbian citizeny's relationship to value.

Abosch's work is driven by his interest in the nature of identity, value, and human currency. Abosch considers art as a means to address ontological questions and respond to sociologic dilemmas.

Abosch’s works in photography, sculpture, installation and film have been exhibited throughout the world, in museums and civic spaces including The Hermitage Museum, St Petersburg, Russia, The National Gallery of Ireland, The Irish Museum of Modern Art, The Museum of Modern Art Novi Sad, The Museum of Modern Art Bogota, The Museum of Modern Art Reykjavik and Times Square, New York.

In 2016 Abosch's Potato #345, a photograph of a potato, made headlines across the world when it sold for more than €1 million and in 2018 the artist turned himself, using his own blood into a crypto-token on the Ethereum blockchain in the much-celebrated IAMA COIN project. Abosch installed Personal Effects, a work from IAMA COIN in the Hermitage Museum in St Petersberg.
